WHY FAMILY YOGA?

PicturesThe bond between mother and child begins early, actually it can be said that it has always existed, as she carries around “pearls” of potential life within her. The journey takes on new meaning as a woman gains knowledge of the life growing within her. As her belly grows and images of the child are captured through ultrasound, the bond grows stronger.

After birth, the struggle to remain close to your child becomes more challenging as the distractions of life seep in and seek to separate you from your baby. Quiet, solitary moments that can be stolen with your child are precious. Through breast feeding, talking directly with your child or by gently rocking them, you create a safe haven for your child that forms an important foundation in their lives.

Also, while the natural bond between child and mother is inherent, the desire for a father to become close to the child can be seen as more challenging. Yoga provides a wonderful opportunity for men to bond with their children, in simple ways that can be adapted for and maintained at home.

At Pearls For Life Family Yoga, we strive to encourage the ongoing union of parent and child through quiet, peaceful yoga practice. Not only a yoga instructor and doula, I am a mother of 4 children and 2 grandchildren who has used yoga with my family to nurture our relationships; thereby strengthening emotional bonds and physical health.
