What is Chair Yoga?

Good question. When people offer reasons as to why they can’t do yoga, they usually say they aren’t flexible enough or due to their age, injury or a condition, they simply can’t do it. Chair Yoga is precisely for people like that. Using the chair as a seat or instrument for stability (like a walker) enables people to not only do yoga, but to recover more quickly from an injury by strengthening and stretching tight or damaged areas. Chair yoga provides an excellent opportunity to stretch and relax achy joints, strains and injuries.

The parameters of yoga are always defined by the individual – it’s not “Ok everyone, touch your toes!” but “Stretch towards your toes as far as you are able and comfortable.” You define your yoga practice.

If you haven’t heard, we’ve also begun a Millennial Yoga class for teens! This month at the Solana Beach library on April 25th, @ 2pm, bring out your junior high/highschooler for a fun and healthy experience with relevant music and moves. It’s free and what a great way to get your lazy kid off the couch and away from the video games.

As always, keep up date on any changes on our website calendar: http://pearlsforlife.org/class-schedule/April-1-2015
